Benue State House of Assembly Concludes First Sitting of Third Legislative Session

FIC Report (Benue State) – Benue State House of Assembly on Friday October 10, 2025 concluded The first sitting of the third legislative session. Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Alfred Aondoaver Emberga,made this known during plenary at the Assembly complex in Makurdi. In his address, the Speaker highlighted the House’s achievements during the session, which include:

  • Receiving 9 bills, passing 6 into law, and having 3 pending in committees
  • Receiving and debating 19 reports, with 10 conclusively debated
  • Deliberating on 30 substantive motions and adopting 115 major resolutions
  • Receiving 8 major communications, including requests to confirm nominees for appointments

The Speaker expressed appreciation to the Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, for committing resources to renovate the House of Assembly Complex. However, he expressed concern about the delay in the project’s completion, which was initially slated for September 30, 2025.

He said he has witnessed uncommon cooperation and commitment to duty by all Staff. I appreciate you and I hope that you will maintain this tempo as we continue with the collective task of developing our dear State,” Rt. Hon. Alfred Aondoaver Emberga said.

In a Message to Staff and Members
The Speaker assured that the welfare and training of Honourable Members and staff of the House would continue to be prioritized, with rewards for hard work and commitment to duty.

The Speaker wished Honourable Members and the public a happy recess and a happy 65th Independence Anniversary.
