Bill To Establish Federal College Of Agric And Forestry, Ise-Ekiti, Awaits Senate Approval–Ojuawo

FIC Report (Ekiti State) – The Lawmaker representing Ekiti South Federal Constituency I, Hon. Rufus Ojuawo has disclosed that the bill to establish the Federal College of Agriculture and Forestry in Ise-Ekiti has passed its third reading in the House of Representatives and is currently awaiting approval by the Senate.

Ojuawo made this known during a Press Conference held in Ado-Ekiti where he reviewed his achievements over the past two years in office.

Addressing Journalists, the lawmaker stated that the establishment of the college was long overdue, emphasizing its significance in enhancing the state’s economy and ensuring food security.

He also highlighted his efforts in infrastructure development, including the grading of Upaso Farm Road in Orun-Ekiti, Ayetoro Transformer Road to Odo Oro Street and township roads in Orun-Ekiti, Ise-Ekiti, Ikere Ekiti and the construction of the 2km Ajegunle Road in Ise-Ekiti.

In the area of agriculture, Ojuawo has initiated cluster farming in Ogbese, Ise Ekiti and facilitated the supply of a trailer-load of 50kg 768 bags of fertilizer to his Constituents.

He also distributed various farm implements such as knapsack sprayers, hoes, wheelbarrows, cutlasses, reflective jackets, rain boots and fertilizer in batches of 55 each across the Constituency.

Ojuawo has also empowered farmers involved in cluster farming at Ikato Farm, Ogotun-Ekiti and distributed a second consignment of 50kg 207 bags of fertilizer.

The lawmaker trained and empowered 55 farmers in fish farming across the Constituency, providing them with starter kits including 200 juveniles, 2 bags of feed, 1 hand net, 1 covered net, a shovel, a pair of rain boots, a 1,000-liter water tank, medications and a take-off grant.

In the education sector, Ojuawo sponsored secondary school students for a 5-day leadership training in Abuja, constructed a 6-classroom block at Ogotun High School and facilitated the construction and equipping of a 20-bed hospital in Ise Ekiti under the health sector.

On rural electrification, he distributed 228 solar-powered street lights to communities in Ikere, Ise, Orun, Igbara-Odo, Ogotun and Ilawe Ekiti.

He also drilled five solar-powered boreholes at locations including the BOUESTI Hostel in Ikere Ekiti, Ayetoro Community, Federal College of Education site in Ilawe Ekiti, Ojuawo Empowerment Farms in Ikato and Ogbese.

He equally facilitated the supply of two 300kVA transformers to Obasanjo Estate, Ikere Ekiti and Erinwa Quarter, Ise-Ekiti while he distributed 25 motorcycles to constituents improve transportation.

Ojuawo recorded legislative milestones, including the sponsorship of a bill to amend the Armed Forces Act (Cap 20, 2004) to enhance the effective and efficient application of military force in protecting Nigeria’s sovereignty.

Other legislative accomplishments include a bill to amend the Veterans Federation of Nigeria Act (2024) to improve the welfare and healthcare of military veterans and a bill to amend the TETFund Act to allow research support for private tertiary institutions, while also moving six motions in the House of Representatives.

The lawmaker appealed to his Constituents, especially the youth, to continue supporting his efforts in delivering quality development projects for the growth and development of the state.
