The Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) is set to host its 2025 Management Retreat under the theme: “Repositioning the Bureau of Public Procurement for Mandate Optimisation.” This strategic retreat aims to realign the Bureau’s operations with global best practices, enhance institutional efficiency, and reinforce its commitment to transparency, accountability, and value for money in Nigeria’s public procurement system.
The retreat, which comes in the wake of a leadership transition at the Bureau, will provide a platform for management staff to engage in high-level discussions on the reform blueprint of the current administration, with a focus on addressing systemic inefficiencies and implementing sustainable procurement practices.
The Director-General of BPP, Dr. Adebowale A. Adedokun while speaking on the retreat, he said “This retreat is a pivotal step towards repositioning the Bureau for greater impact. By fostering a performance-driven culture, strengthening stakeholder collaboration, and aligning our mandate with international standards, we are setting the stage for a more transparent, accountable, and efficient public procurement system in Nigeria.”
The key objectives of the retreat include: a comprehensive review of the administration’s procurement reform strategy, identifying quick wins and long-term improvements, aligning the Bureau’s statutory responsibilities with international best practices, Ensuring management staff are fully aligned with the Bureau’s reform agenda, and Development of a results-oriented leadership culture within the Bureau.
The retreat is expected to deliver enhanced organizational effectiveness, improved leadership capacity, and actionable reform strategies that will drive procurement efficiency and institutional sustainability.
Participants will include management staff on Grade Level 14–17, who will engage in interactive sessions, group discussions, and strategic presentations designed to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to champion the Bureau’s transformation.
With this initiative, the BPP is reaffirming its dedication to fostering a procurement system that meets global standards, supports national development, and strengthens Nigeria’s competitiveness on the global stage.
