ABUJA – (Bureau of Public Service Reforms Report)- The Acting Director – General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, D.I Arabi has presented the results of the evaluation carried out on seventy selected pilot Ministries, Extra-ministerial Departments and Agencies of Government (MDAs) to ascertain their accessibility, functionality and the feedback mechanisms available to their prospects.
This was disclosed at a press conference organised recently after the mid-year ranking.According to him, the purpose of the initiative was to corroborate government’s commitment to creating conducive and enabling environments for businesses and investments to thrive in Nigeria. He added that this is in line with the Executive Order 001 on the Ease of Doing Business policy which became law in 2017.
Arabi expressed gratitude to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation for his unflinching support and leadership role in ensuring that the vision became a reality. He also thanked the two NGOs – R2k and Mac Arthur foundation, while appreciating Galaxy Backbone for the massive technical support. The members of the IMTT, who were drawn from various MDAs were equally applauded for the huge task they performed.
Also speaking at the event, the Head of the Jury, Uduma Mary explained that the process went through three rigorous stages which sought to ensure that government websites have the .gov.ng domain and other protocols like:Security, Functionality, Usability, About, Structure, Appearance and Aesthetics as well as Content, Responsiveness, Accessibility and Availability/Uptime.
In the high point of the event,there was the declaration and presentation of awards to the top three MDAs. During the presentation, the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture clinched the first position, while SERVICOM came second and the third position went to the Federal Ministry of Justice.
