FIC Report (Benue State) – The Permanent Secretary of the Benue State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management/BSEMA, Sir James Iorpuu, PhD, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his proactive and decisive efforts in addressing the security crisis in Benue State, particularly following the deployment of the Chief of Army Staff to intervene in the state’s security challenges.
This commendation was delivered by the Head of Administration, Dr. Donald Komgbenda, who represented the Permanent Secretary during the monthly distribution of food and non-food items to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) across the state. The event took place on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at the SEMA office in Makurdi.
Sir Iorpuu also praised the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Alia, for his unwavering commitment and tireless efforts in tackling insecurity within the state.
Addressing the press, the Permanent Secretary emphasized that the distribution of relief materials is not merely a routine task but a profound gesture of compassion, a message of hope, and a clear demonstration of the government’s determination to leave no vulnerable citizen behind.
Dr. Iorpuu also urged the public to take seriously the recent warning issued by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET), which identified Benue State as one of the high-risk areas likely to experience flooding in the coming months.
He called on partners, stakeholders, and the general public to sustain their support for ongoing efforts to bring relief, dignity, and eventual resettlement to displaced persons in the state.
