The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has received a formal letter of appreciation from the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) in recognition of its exceptional role in the successful hosting of the 39th edition of the CAVB Women’s African Volleyball Club Championship, which took place in Abuja from April 1-14, 2025.
In a message signed on Thursday, May 22, 2025, CAVB President Bouchra Hajij, in her address to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, described the tournament as a historic milestone, marking the first time in many years the championship was held outside North Africa. She underscored the transformative impact of the event and praised the NCS for setting a new benchmark in sports hosting, redefining excellence and inclusivity on the continental stage.
Under the visionary leadership of the NCS, it was clearly demonstrated that sport transcends mere competition, serving instead as a powerful vehicle for social transformation. The CAVB further commended the Service’s steadfast commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), highlighting the world-class facilities, seamless logistics, and electrifying atmosphere that invigorated both participants and spectators.
The statement also acknowledged the event’s success as a direct result of the NCS’s strategic planning and generosity. This support emphasised the vital importance of empowering women and youth through sport, offering a clear model for how institutions can lead in advancing inclusive development.
The CAVB also hailed the NCS as “an ample and able partner of African Volleyball,” noting that the 2025 edition of the tournament will leave a lasting legacy and serve as a model for future championships across the continent.
Under the leadership of CGC Adeniyi and his management team, the NCS reaffirms its steadfast commitment to supporting platforms that promote inclusion, youth empowerment, and the positive projection of Nigeria on the global stage. The Service extends heartfelt appreciation to all stakeholders, partners, and members of the public whose invaluable contributions made the event a resounding success.
