CDOWA Abia State Chapter Shows Compassion with Visit to School for the Blind

FIC Report (Abia State) – The NSCDC Abia State Command chapter of Civil Defence Officers Wives Association (CDOWA) recently showed remarkable kindness and solidarity by visiting the Special Education School for the Blind in Afara-Ukwu, Umuahia, Abia State, on Monday, October 6th, 2025.

CDOWA presented food items and offered words of encouragement to uplift the students’ spirits and foster a sense of belonging.

Mrs. Rita Nwaogu, representing Chairperson Princess Mrs. Alice Akinsola, emphasized CDOWA’s dedication to promoting compassion, inclusivity, and community support for vulnerable groups.

She made this Known, while addressing some News Men that,There have been reports highlighting challenges faced by such institutions, underscoring the importance of support from organizations like CDOWA.

Still speaking, Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti has demonstrated passion for supporting persons living with disabilities, establishing an office for Persons Living with Disabilities.

Earlier this year, Governor Otti presented two brand new buses to the Special Education school for the Blind, Afara-Ukwu and the Special Education Centre for the Deaf and Mentally Challenged in Umuahia.

This visit underscores the importance of community support and inclusivity for individuals with special needs, reflecting positively on CDOWA’s efforts and Abia State’s initiatives towards welfare and empowerment.

Students and staff expressed deep gratitude for the visit and donations, finding it timely and impactful.
