The conference featured the decoration of eleven (11) newly promoted Superintendents of Police (SPs) to Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs), and four (4) Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) to Superintendents of Police (SPs).

In his address to the promoted officers, the Commissioner of Police charged them to let their new ranks reflect positively in their conduct, performance and relationship with members of the public. He emphasized that promotion comes with greater responsibility and urged them to exhibit humility, discipline and professionalism, reminding them not to themselves become demi-god in their formations.

The CP also presented awards to ACPs, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), Tactical Team Commanders, and Sectional Heads in recognition of their hard work gallantry respectively.

He also celebrated the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka, for her recent award of Distinctive Performance by International Alert in partnership with UK International Development and Sgt. The CP encouraged the award recipients to view the recognition as a call for honesty and qualitative service delivery.

To promote professionalism, the CP announced that the Command Library at the PPRO’s office has been stocked with relevant books and encouraged officers to cultivate a reading culture to keep abreast with the demands of their duties. He urged all officers to make good use of the library to enhance their effectiveness and efficiency.

CP Danladi Isa further cautioned officers against unprofessional practices such as over-detention of suspects, involvement in civil matters and other misconduct, warning that appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against erring Officers.

He charged all officers to uphold the rights of suspects in custody, maintain good working relationship with communities and relevant stakeholders within their jurisdiction and ensure that their stations are well fortified at all times.
