FIC Report (Benue State) – The commissioner of police Ifeanyi Emenari PhD psc minips on Thursday 19 June 2025 said the command has received additional personnel to the command, following the attack that happened at Yelewata Guma Benue.
While briefing journalist at the police Headquarters Makurdi, he informed that inspector General of police ordered that, more tactical team be deployed to the State to cover areas that are likely to be attacked by the bandits. The C P said, police are working with other sister security agencies to stop further attacks in the State.
He also informed that one suspect has been arrested in connection to the Yelewata incident, that the Benue State command and Nassaraw police command are working in synergy.
Reacting to other security situations in the State. The C P confirmed that the suspect arrested at Ushongu by youths were screened at the Divisional level and criminal investigation department (CID) confirmed them to be law abiding citizens going on a legitimate business.
He assured the public that the Yelewata incident will not occur again, that security has been enhanced in the State as a whole.
