The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has prescribed technology based solutions to the disruptions caused by pandemic coronavirus (COVID-19), noting that Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) have proven quite useful in managing communication, eCommerce and other disruptions to the social order.
The governor said this in commemoration of the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day marked by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and other agencies.
He urged scientists and innovators to hunt for new ways to cope with the disruptions to social order, noting that the state government, for instance, has embraced technology in educating pupils in primary schools through the initiative of Edo Basic Education Sector Transformation at home (EdoBEST@Home).
“We have just completed the John Odigie-Oyegun Civil Service Training Academy, which will offer courses that would help our workers perform better and be more productive. These constitute the many changes we are making to ensure that the people are best served”, the Governor said, recapitulating that the state government will continue to train its staff to adapt to changes in technology.
