As desk officers, you are uniquely positioned to foster collaboration not only within your respective states but also across state lines, creating a network of shared knowledge and best practices.

National Coordinator/ CEO SERVICOM Presidency, Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli stated this in her goodwill message at the 2024 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Networking Meeting of SERVICOM Desk Officers in Abuja on Thursday August 15th, 2024.

Akajemeli explained that collaboration is the foundation upon which the success of the NYSC is built, adding that it goes with the theme title “Enhancing Service Delivery Through Collaboration and Innovation”.

She further explained that inter-state collaboration helps desk officers to share effective insights and solutions, ensuring no state works in isolation and improving service delivery nationwide, such as sensitization of corps members by the SERVICOM Desk Officers.

“According to her, strong networking of desk officers across states fosters continuous learning and improvements, through regular communication, joint training and collaborative projects, they can stay updated, share innovative ideas and collaboratively address challenges.

She further stated that “when collaboration and innovation are combined, they create a powerful synergy that can transform the NYSC.

Collaboration she added, ensures that innovative ideas are shared and implemented across the organization, while innovation provides the fresh perspectives needed to keep our collaborative efforts are dynamic and effective, for instance the entrepreneurial skill acquisition for NYSC members to prepare them for self-employment ,considering the economic predicament of our nation”.

While concluding, Akajemeli emphasized that Desk Officers of the NYSC are cornerstones in their efforts to enhance service delivery, adding that by embracing collaboration and innovation, they can drive meaningful change within the States and contribute to the overall success of the NYSC.

The SERVICOM Boss said, “let us continue to work together, sharing our knowledge, ideas and resources and let us remain open to new ways of thinking and doing. Through our collective efforts, we can ensure that NYSC remains a beacon of hope, unity and progress for Nigeria”.

In his welcome address the Director Reforms Coordination and Service Improvement Department, Mr. Chukwu Chiwendu said that the Parastatal SERVICOM Committee (PSC) networking meeting is aimed building, capacity of participants’ to address challenges and map out seamless ways of meeting customers’ expectation through collaboration and innovation.

This he said, “is the first among the strategies to place Desk Officers in preparation and readiness for adjustments of the huge responsibilities that comes with the expectations and task ahead”.

He further expressed his gratitude to the National SERVICOM Office for the technical guidance and support given to the scheme, and assured his Director General of his determination to raise the bar in serving the citizens better.
