Developing a positive attitude among employees would foster collaboration, and enhance team building among staff in MDAs, says the National Coordinator/CEO SERVICOM Presidency Office, Mrs Nnenna Akajemili.

Akajemeli made the statement in her opening remarks at the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) SERVICOM Symposium, with the theme “Impact of attitudinal and behavioural ethics in the workplace” in Abuja on Tuesday 29th October, 2024.

According to her, effective communication, promotes a culture of respect and support for staff and stakeholders.

She explained that, when staff approach their roles with enthusiasm and a willingness to help, it not only boosts morale but also increases productivity and creativity.

She emphasized that negative attitude can lead to conflicts , decreased motivation, and lower performance levels, adding that organizations can cultivate a positive staff attitude through effective leadership, recognition of achievements and opportunities for professional growth.

For an organization to thrive while delivering its set goals, vision and mandate it is imperative to reflect on the culture of professionalism.

This she said would foster a culture of excellence while also showcasing the corporate brand of the organization.

The Perception by stakeholders when taking service is key in enhancing the brand and also increasing productivity among staff’ ’National Coordinator further explained.

“It encompasses organizational core values, attitudes, behaviors and communication styles that reflect respect for oneself, others and the organization.

This she said would uncover how performance is managed to achieve desired results overtime.

Furthermore, It takes into account how management supports staff through incentives and capacity building to achieve targets, Akajemeli maintained.

When maintaining professional disposition, it builds trust and credibility among colleagues and clients, while enhancing collaboration and teamwork, she stated.

She reiterated that when service providers imbibe a disposition of clear positive attitudes, it can exceed expectations and set boundaries, while also reducing misunderstandings and conflicts among staff members.

“According to her, attitudinal ethics refers to the underlying beliefs and values that inform an individual’s ethical decision-making process. With factors that range from personal integrity, social responsivity and respect for others”.

The Director General/Chief Executive Officer (DG/CEO) Ayodeji Ariyo Gbeleyi in his welcome remarks said that in today’s dynamic world, attitude and behavioral ethics plays a pivotal role in shaping a positive and productive work place environment.

Gbeleyi pointed out that the impact of this ethics can be far rendered in shaping the behavioral attitude of workers in a workplace.

“The theme of the symposium emphasizes the recognition and importance of frontline officers if we are to meet and exceed the expectations of Mr. President’s Renewed Hope Agenda. While affirming his commitment in driving the Bureau’s core values which highlights integrity, transparency, accountability and result orientation amongst others.
