…………Honoured at 2025 National Assembly Awards for Exemplary Leadership and Reforms in Public Service.
The Director-General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Yusuf Buba Yakub, has been honoured with the “Most Outstanding Public Servant (Non-Legislative Category)” Award at the 9th National Assembly Orientation and Awards 2025 held in Abuja.
The ceremony, themed “A New Nigeria: Rebuilding Values for National Renewal,” celebrated distinguished Nigerians and institutions promoting national cohesion, responsible leadership, and development-oriented governance.
Upon receiving the award, Rt. Hon. Yakub dedicated the recognition to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, expressing profound gratitude for the President’s confidence in his leadership and the opportunity to serve. In his words:
“Without Mr. President, I wouldn’t be here today. His trust, confidence, and vision for a greater Nigeria continue to inspire me. This award is for him and for the ideals he represents.”
He further emphasized the importance of reviving Nigeria’s historical consciousness, stating:
“A people without history are completely lost. History is very important; we must return to it.”
A citation in his honour highlighted Rt. Hon. Yakub’s transformational leadership at NTAC and his contributions to advancing Nigeria’s soft-power diplomacy across Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific. His reforms were commended for enhancing transparency, institutional efficiency, and strategic international collaboration—all of which continue to project Nigeria’s positive global image.
Representing the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Ms. Tolu Meduna, Senior Special Assistant (Media), delivered the keynote address, emphasizing cultural preservation and the strengthening of national mentorship structures. She noted that understanding one’s history fosters identity, pride, and national purpose.
Students from various tertiary institutions also participated in engaging discussions on women in governance, freedom of expression, and the preservation of history as vital tools for building a renewed Nigeria.
The event, held at the National Assembly Library Trust Fund Hall, concluded with commendations from organizers and dignitaries, reaffirming a collective resolve to build a New Nigeria anchored on cultural pride, national unity, and accountable leadership.
This recognition reaffirms Rt. Hon. Yakub’s reputation for visionary leadership, reform-focused governance, and patriotic service. His dedication and achievements at NTAC continue to inspire excellence across the public service landscape.
