The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Dr. Mukhtar Yawale Muhammad, MFR, mni, has received a strategic delegation advancing a nationally endorsed publication titled “Nigeria: Documenting Economic and Tourism Profiles of 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).”
The meeting, held at the Ministry, formed part of ongoing national coordination efforts toward the completion and planned launch of the publication, which is being delivered through a strategic collaboration involving the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, the Nigerian Press Council, and key national stakeholders.
Speaking during the engagement, the visiting team explained that the publication is designed to serve as a single authoritative national compendium, presenting a structured and data-driven account of the economic strengths and tourism potentials of Nigeria’s 36 states and the FCT. The framework, they noted, supports comparability, investment decision-making, tourism promotion, and policy alignment, while positioning Nigeria for stronger global visibility.
The delegation also highlighted the strong national ownership of the project, noting that it is a nationally endorsed publication with a foreword to be written by His Excellency Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Chairman of the National Economic Council. In addition, the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum is expected to provide a key endorsement, while the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, will write the preface. The Honourable Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Barrister Hannatu Musa Musawa, will provide the official introduction.
In his remarks, Dr. Mukhtar Yawale Muhammad commended the initiative and emphasised the need for clarity, credibility and thorough validation of all information included in the publication. He stressed that details must be properly verified, with special attention to the methodology, sources of information, and the level of acceptance and ownership by state authorities.
The Permanent Secretary further noted that information remains critical for national growth and development planning, and advised that the publication should be guided by accuracy, responsibility and professional standards.
The delegation informed the Ministry that the project is already at an advanced stage. A national publication committee has been inaugurated, commissioners and senior officials have been nominated across states, and multiple committee engagements have taken place. Draft manuscripts have been developed and refined through structured review timelines.
The visiting team was led by the Executive Secretary, Nigerian Press Council, Mr. Dili Ezughah, and included Mr. Tajudeen Toyin-Ola, Chief Consultant; Mr. Mike Governor, Committee Member; Mrs. Chinyere Fraca, Director, Public Relations; and Mrs. Ayooluwa Aribisola, Consultant. The team expressed appreciation to the Permanent Secretary for the warm reception and the Ministry’s continued support.
