Minister of Interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo admonished staff of the Ministry of Interior to always render assistants to retirees who visit the Ministry for their entitlement.
The Minister handed the advice through the Director of the Joint Services of the Ministry and equally an overseer of the office of Permanent Secretary, Dr. Peter Egbodo, urged the staff not to see the retirees as a burden.
Dr. Egbodo, made the plea on Friday while sending-forth some Directors and staff of the Ministry that retired within the recent past.
His words, “if you see a retiree, know it very well, you that have not been retired, don’t take it for granted, you too will retire, some of you that have one thing or the other to do with the office, anytime you come around, those of us that are still here, don’t allow us to see them as disturbing us, any entitlement of theirs that is outstanding let us support them to get those entitlement without stress”.
Dr. Egbodo, sought the support of the Ministry’s senior citizens with their wealth of experience, just as he pledged the continue support of the Ministry to the retirees.
He said leaving service is like any other work phase of lives, he added that there are many phases of lives, he said there is the tendency in which one’s community, state, local government or the country will need your service at any capacity.
Dr. Egbodo, said what is important is to crave for good health, adding that some achieve their positive lives after active service.
He applauded the Minister and the retired Permanent Secretary, Dr.Oluwatoyin Akinlade, for the event, which he said approval for the sent forth was granted before her retirement.
The Ministry presented a gift to each of the senior citizens from the ministry with different inches of plasma TV and other items, appreciating them for their meritorious service to the nation.
The event was attended by directors and staff of the ministry who were there to share the joy of the moment with their retired senior colleagues.
