Ebonyi Govt Vows To End Bullying Of Children

FIC Report (Ebonyi State) – The Governor of Ebonyi State, , Mr Francis Nwifuru, has directed State Ministries of Education and Women Development to work out modalities that will enable the State Government to punish anyone accused of bullying a child.

The Governor, who was represented in this 2025 Children’s Day by his Deputy Governor, Mrs Patricia Obila, gave this directive immediately after receiving a salute from the march past organised by different Nursery, Primary and Secondary Schools in the State.

She urged all parents and guardians to always give a listening ear to our Children so that they can easily know when someone has started bullying them.

The Wife of Ebonyi State Governor, Mrs Uzomaka Nwifuru, while delivering her address, said bullying is a silent destroyer for children as it can make some children to start losing confidence in themselves. Keeping Silence can promote the bully but speaking out will help in ending it”. She explained.

While the Speaker of Children’s Parliament in Ebonyi State, Obasi Nnanna, thanked the Governor of Ebonyi State, who has been protesting Ebonyi Children from bullying. Obasi urged Ebonyi children to always speak up anytime they notice bullying around them.

The State Commissioner for Women and Social Development, Felicia Nwankpuma, urged the children to stand up and maintain the theme of this year’s Children’s Day, which is ‘Stand up, speak up building a bully free generation. Bullying has made some children feel scared of people and lost self-worth.

The State Commissioner commended the Governor of the State, Francis Nwifuru, for giving the children the opportunity to gather here today to celebrate this International Children’s Day at Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium.
