FIC Report (Edo State) – The Edo State Police Command has recorded major breakthroughs in its ongoing security operations across the state, resulting in the arrest of several suspected kidnappers and cultists, recovery of arms, and rescue of kidnapped victims. The achievements followed a series of intelligence-led and technology-assisted operations conducted between January 23 and 25, 2026.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikoedem, operatives recovered an AK-47 rifle loaded with 30 rounds of live ammunition along the Benin–Lagos Expressway, while four suspected kidnappers were arrested during a drone-assisted bush-combing operation at the Era/Idoha forest axis in Ekpoma. In separate coordinated efforts, a kidnapped farmer in Okpella and a couple abducted at Ochodo Community were rescued unhurt, while 14 suspects were apprehended in Uromi over a violent cult-related disturbance.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, fdc, commended the professionalism and synergy displayed by the operatives, hunters, and vigilante groups, noting that the integration of drone surveillance has further enhanced the Command’s operational efficiency. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and the protection of lives and property across Edo State.
The Command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide timely, credible information to assist security agencies. The Police emergency contact lines remain active: 08077773721, 08037646272; Public Complaints Bureau – 08150999335; and Complaints Response Unit – 08100389992.
