The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has lit the unity torch for the state’s sporting championships which begins on the 10th of February, 2020.
The symbolic torch which was presented to the Governor by the Vice Chairman of Team Edo, Mrs Anehita Emeya at the Government House Benin city was later handed over to the state Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Phillip Shuaibu by his boss.
The athletes are to travel across the 18 local government areas of the state with the Unity cup. Athletes taking part in the festival are drawn from the 18 local government areas of the State.
The festival is organized to select athletes that will represent Edo state at the 2020 National Sports Festival, to be hosted by the state.
