FIC Report (Edo State) – The Edo State Executive Council has approved a revised supplementary budget of N799.82 billion for the 2025 fiscal year, up from the initial N675.22 billion, representing an increase of approximately N124.6 billion, or 18 percent. The approval followed an emergency executive meeting presided over by Governor Monday Okpebholo on September 29, 2025.

According to the Commissioner for Finance, Emmanuel Okoebor, the revised budget prioritizes infrastructure development, with 70% allocated to capital expenditure and 30% to recurrent expenditure. The increase in the budget comprises a N12 billion rise in recurrent expenditure and a N113 billion increase in capital expenditure. Okoebor explained that the increase in recurrent expenditure is largely due to the new minimum wage and the employment of over 1,000 personnel in the Hospital Management Board. Additionally, the Government has completed 254 km of road across the state, with many more construction works ongoing. The capital expenditure has seen a 25% increase, from N450 billion to N563 billion, demonstrating the government’s commitment to infrastructural development.

The revised budget is expected to be forwarded to the Edo State House of Assembly for legislative consideration and passage, according to Honourable Commissioner for Information and Communication, Paul Ohombamu. With this increased focus on infrastructure development, the Edo State Government aims to make a positive impact on the lives of its citizens.
