FIC Report (Ekiti State) – The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ekiti Command has called for the support of the State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji on the construction of a befitting rehabilitation centre.

The State Commander, CN Sunday Aina made the appeal on Monday at the Command’s Headquarters, Ado-Ekiti.

Speaking with Journalists, CN Aina described illicit drugs as major challenges hindering youths from realizing their full potential, noting that the Command has been working tirelessly to rid the State of the menace.

CN Aina revealed that illicit drugs were catalyst for various forms of criminality in the State, disclosing that the Command destroyed 192 tons of cannabis in 2024.

He explained that the proposed rehabilitation centre would provide a safe space for drug abusers to recover from addiction, stressing that the Centre would enable the Command to curb illicit drug abuses and rehabilitate those apprehended.

His words, “Drug remains a major challenge, it makes it difficult for youths to harness their full potentials; that’s why we are making sure that no stones are left unturned to rid the State of illicit drug users and abusers.

“No human being under no influence will rape, kill and do all sorts of things, it’s as a result of drugs which is the catalyst of all forms of criminalities”.

He also sent stringent warning to Ekiti residents to refrain from illicit drugs, saying offenders would be prosecuted regardless of their physical or mental conditions.
