Empowering Persons with Disabilities in Agriculture: NCPWD Distributes Fertilizers and Farming Tools

The National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) has taken a significant step towards enhancing the livelihoods of persons with disabilities in the agricultural sector. On Monday, June 7, 2025, the Commission distributed fertilizers and basic farming tools to persons with disabilities, grouped into clusters.

This initiative aligns with the Commission’s commitment to providing assistive technologies that facilitate the production of goods and services by persons with disabilities. By supplying these essential farming tools, the Commission aims to boost farm production and empower persons with disabilities to reach their full potential.

Representing the Executive Secretary, Mr. Lawrence Idemudia reiterated the Commission’s dedication to empowering persons with disabilities, stating, “This distribution is part of our broader goal to support and enhance the lives of persons with disabilities. We have more initiatives in the pipeline to further empower our beneficiaries.”

The beneficiaries, comprising representatives from the following organizations, expressed gratitude for the Commission’s support:

  • Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities
  • Nigerian Association of the Blind
  • Nigerian National Association of the Deaf
  • Albinism Association of Nigeria
  • Association for Intellectual and Developmental Disability of Nigeria
  • National Association of Persons with Physical Disabilities
  • Spinal Cord Association of Nigeria
  • Parsons Affected by Leprosy

The NCPWD remains committed to promoting the welfare and empowerment of persons with disabilities in Nigeria. This initiative is a testament to the Commission’s efforts to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for persons with disabilities.
