The Director Overseeing the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Engr. Kamoru Busari, FNSE has encouraged members of staff of the Ministry to key into the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan for 2021-2025 (FCSSIP ‘25) in order to improve their effectiveness at work ethics and innovation in the Public Service.
Engr. Kamoru Busari, who was represented by the Director Planning, Research and Statistics, Mr. Sa’eed Musa Talle, at a one day sensitization Workshop/Interactive Session on FCSSIP ’25: Work Ethics and Innovation in the Public Service organized by Reform Co-ordination and Service Improvement Department on Friday, 30th September, 2022 in Abuja stated that the workshop is aimed at equipping staff with requisite knowledge needed to drive the FCSSIP 25 in the Petroleum Ministry.
Engr. Kamoru Busari highĺighted key priority areas of FCSSIP to participants which he said includes: the re-design and re-lunch of the three core training modules (Induction, LEAD-P AND SMAT-P); Launch a strategic sourcing of identified skills to cultivate talent to drive high level impact, Institutionalize Performance Management System (PMS), Launch a salary review of the Civil Service, Drive Innovation in service amongst others.
“It is worthy of note that the workshop is very strategic and timely at this period that the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (HOCSF) is striving towards repositioning the Civil Service for greater effectiveness and productivity;” he stated.
He expressed his optimism and belief that at the end of this workshop, MPR Staff will allow the new knowledge acquired to reflect in the quality of selfless and prompt services they render to the public.
The Director Overseeing the office of the Permanent Secretary thanked the Staff for their eagerness to learn at any given opportunity, the Resource Person, Director of Studies/ Head Computer Information Management Studies, Department ASCON, Mr. Gbenga Dada and the Department of Reform Coordination and Service Improvement.
Mr. Gbenga stated that Public Service represents the hoe and cutlass of government because it is the most important tool available to any government in achieving its goals.
He also stressed that Public Service Reform (PSR) is the totality of the administrative structure with which the work of the government is carried out.
Continuing he stated that “All hands must be on deck if we want to achieve result”, “There is always room for improvement, the more efficient we are, the more productive we become, he noted.”
Some of the topics presented at the workshop are: background to FCSSIP 2021-2025, unraveling FCSSIP 2021-2025, why FCSSIP 2021-2025, reasons for Public Service Reforms and definition of concepts.
The Director, Reform Co-ordination and Service Improvement Department, Ms. Emma Equere, thanked the representative of the Permanent Secretary, Sa’eed Musa Talle, the Directors and members of Staff for the impressive turnout, and noted that the workshop was organised primarily to update staff on the recent developments in the Federal Civil Service and Office of the Civil Service of the Federation on the recent happenings and innovations.
