A technical experts meeting has been declared open in preparatory to the Council of Ministers and Heads of States and Government of Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) member countries on Friday 23rd February, 2018 in Abuja.
Declaring the meeting open, the Honourable Minister of Water Resources, Engr. Suleiman H. Adamu, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Musa Ibrahim said that the purpose of the meeting among others is to review the 2017 activities of the Lake Chad Basin Commission, consider the report of the financial controller and consider and approve the programme of activities of 2018.
He charged them to carefully deliberate on the aforementioned issues and make appropriate recommendations to the Council of Ministers for consideration that will improve and better the lot of the common goal of the organization.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Executive Secretary of LCBC, Engr. Sanusi Abdullahi said the Commission has witnessed tremendous successes ranging from inter-basin water transfer to Lake Chad to save it from extinction to the formulation and ratification of the LCBC for effective and efficient integrated water resources management.
“I therefore appeal to you to work tirelessly and smoothly so as to enable you do a good job for the consideration of the Commissioners,” he said.
He however thanked His Excellency, President Muhammdu Buhari for graciously hosting the 63rd ordinary session of the Council of Ministers in Nigeria and wished them successful deliberations.
