NASARAWA (FIC LAFIA) The Federal Government said it is planning to collaborate with Nasarawa State Government in the area of investment to promote the economic fortunes of the State.
The Permanent Secretary, Office of the Secretary of the Government of the Federation (SGF) Engr. Festus Daudu, stated this, when he paid a courtesy visit to the State Governor, Abdullahi Sule in Lafia, recently.
The Permanent Secretary said the decision to enter a collaboration with the State Government, was based on the Governor’s resilience towards promoting investment policies which, according to him, are in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration’s plan to make the country investment friendly, for investors.
He further revealed that, the Federal Government will support the State Government in areas of skill acquisition programmes, that will help in addressing youth restiveness in the State and country at large.
Responding, the State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, thanked the Federal Government for the support and initiative, that will promote the economic fortunes of the State and appealed to the Federal Government to also help and assist the State on tax recovery and remittance from the Federal Civil Servants residing in the State, so as to enable the State get enough revenue to carryout infrastructural development in the State and in Karu in particular, where most of the federal workers are residing.
In a related development, Nasarawa State Government has inaugurated a 12 man committee to review and reform the State Civil Service for optimum performance.
He said the committee was to come out with the report that will help government strengthen the Civil Service system and among other ways that would enable the State develop.
The Governor also said that henceforth all revenues generated from all government organizations are to be channel into the state treasuring single account (STSA).
