FIC Report (Abia State) – Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has granted automatic employment to nine ex–corps members of Abia origin who recently received Presidential NYSC Awards from the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Receiving the awardees in Government House, Umuahia, Governor Otti said their rare national recognition deserves immediate reward at the state level.
He directed the State Head of Service to issue appointment letters without delay, noting that the federal honour proved the recipients had “already passed the interviews.”
“On behalf of the State Government, you are going to leave here with a token. But beyond the token, I hereby temporarily lift the embargo on employment to employ the nine of you,” the Governor announced before immediately re-closing the embargo.
The nine former corps members were decorated by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on 29 July for exceptional performance during their national service. According to NYSC State Coordinator, Barr. Gladys Adama, they excelled across their primary assignments, most of them serving outside the Southeast.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Mr. Nwogu Chinomso of Obingwa LGA thanked both the federal government for the national honour and Governor Otti for rewarding their effort with state appointments, pledging dedicated service to Abia.

Senior government appointees witnessed the reception, which underscored the partnership of federal recognition and state reward in celebrating young Nigerians who exemplify excellence in national service.
