The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, Mrs. Esuabana Nko-Asanye has said that the Ministry is ready to partner with the University of Indonesia for staff to participate in the scholarship’s program in Indonesia specifically the Internship in Research (INSPIRE) Initiative.
Esuabana disclosed this when the new Indonesia Ambassador to Nigeria His Excellency Bambang Suharto, and his team paid her a courtesy visit, today, in Abuja.
The Permanent Secretary said that Indonesia and Nigeria has had a mutual and longtime relationship that contribute to socio-economic development of both countries.
She also said that there is need for Indonesia and Nigeria to collaborate in order to digitalize our system and training of the staffs in the Ministry to improve productivity that will contribute to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the Country.
The Permanent Secretary emphasized the need to invest more in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in order to build skilled manpower that can compete favorably with foreign counterpart.
Esuabana commended the new Indonesia Ambassador for coming to build on the mutual and longtime existing relationship that will lead to further technological advancement of both countries.
Earlier the new Indonesia Ambassador to Nigeria His Excellency Bambang Suharto said that the purpose of their visit is to consolidate on the already existing relationship and to collaborate in the area of Science and technology because Nigeria and Indonesia share common characteristics such as population, Agriculture among others.
He also said that with these similar characteristics the two nations can work together in Science by applying Technology to boost Blue economy to move from waste to wealth, create opportunity for individuals to become entrepreneurs that will contribute to the growth and development of the country.
