The Managing Director/CEO of Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Engr. Chukwuemeka Agbasi, FNSE, today, flagged off the Yuletide easy passage programme tagged “Operation Connect Your Destination” on the Abuja-keffi dual carriage way. The Abuja-Keffi road is the major route connecting the entire North-Central to the Federal Capital Territory and other parts of the country.
Speaking at the event, Engr. Agbasi said FERMA is strategically positioned to improve the economy of the country and the intention of the Agency is to improve on the socio-economic value that road offers. He said the essence of the road maintenance/rehabilitation programme is to offer road users good roads when traveling across the country from the North to the South, especially during the Yuletide period.
Speaking, the Federal Road Safety Corp State Commander of Nasarawa State represented by SRC. D. Gidago, the outpost Commander (Goshen-Nyanyan) appreciated the innovation of FERMA in improving on the operations of Road Safety members by making the road more motorable, safe for motorists.
Special Marshals Olu Adekunle, Unit Coordinator of Nyanyan-Aya, also speaking at the Flag off commended the humanitarian intervention of FERMA, noting that the Goshen-Nyanyan spot has been of great concern to stakeholders managing traffic along the route and its dilapidated condition have caused untold hardship on motorists and other stakeholders.
The Head of Direct Labour (FERMA), Engr. Sani Abdulkadir, speaking at the event said that the “operation connect your destination” is a programme designed to ensure free flow of traffic across the Country during the Yuletide season, targeting 36 major Federal roads in the Geopolitical Zones across the country in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Works. He appealed to road users and other critical stakeholders such as the Federal Road Safety Corp to continue to work together with the Agency and her representatives in order to sustain the programme beyond Yuletide Season. According to him FERMA will be working on critical areas of road failures between now and mid-January all across the country.
