The Federal Government has in line with the Code of Governance of the National Sports Federation, dissolved the Seven Boards of the Para Sports Federation of Nigeria after their four-year term tenure (2018 – 2022).
Addressing Board members at the ceremony which held today at the Conference Room of the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports, Abuja, the Minister; Mr. Sunday Dare commended them for their contributions to the development of the game in Nigeria.
“It will be on record that your efforts have been part of the contributions that led to the recognition and subsequent establishment of a Department in the Ministry in charge of Para Sports activities in Nigeria”, Dare said.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Alh. Ismaila Abubakar, the Minister noted that the Para Sports Federations’ Board which was inaugurated in 2018 expired in 2022, in accordance with the 4 year term tenure of Boards of Sports Federations.
He charged the Secretaries General of the dissolved Boards to immediately take charge of the affairs of the Federation pending the elections and inauguration of new Boards.
Dare further assured them that the good working relationship enjoyed with the Ministry during their period in office, will continue to wax stronger, especially as a result of the pet projects they are leaving behind and thus solicited for more collaboration in their future relationship with the Ministry.
The seven dissolved Boards the Minister stated are – Amputee Football, Para Athletics, Para Powerlifting, Para Soccer, Deaf Sports, Para Swimming as well as Wheel Chair Basketball.
