The Federal government has donated empowerment items to Persons of Concern in Ebonyi and Enugu States to provide succour for such persons in the States .
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony for the distribution exercise of the empowerment items at the Abakaliki the Ebonyi State Capital, the Federal Commissioner, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced persons (NCFRMI) Sadiya Umar Farouq said that the visit to the two States was in fulfilment of the Commission’s obligation to continue to support Persons of Concern in their various locations until they are fully re-integrated back to the society.
The Federal Commissioner recalled that the Commission had delivered empowerment materials to Ebonyi and Enugu States on two different occasions within the last two years of this administration in response to the welfare needs of Persons of Concern in the two States.
Specifically ,Hon. Sadiya stated that during her visit in 2017, She promised to deliver two block moulding Machines to Ebonyi and to continued to sustain interventions, stressing that her visit was to fulfil that promise, monitor the progress of Persons of Concerns and flag-off the emblematic distribution of empowerment items such as hair dressing and Barbing Tools.
The Federal Commissioner who was represented by Director Human Resource Management Mr Emmanuel Nkoapora, expressed the Federal government’s commitment to continue to identify with the plight of Persons of Concerns.
According to her, the Federal government through the Commission had successfully intervened in many States where crisis had been recorded including Kebbi, Nasarawa, Benue, Bauchi and Taraba among others.
-Secretary to Government of Ebonyi State Prof. Ifeanyichukwu Bernard Odo who represented the Executive Governor at the occasion commended the Federal Government for finding Ebonyi State worthy of the continued support through the NCFRMI.
According to him, the gesture will continue to extend the life and wellbeing of the affected Persons.
Earlier, the Executive Secretary of Ebonyi State Emmergency Management Agency, Pastor Ken Nwabueze said that the prompt intervention of the Federal government to the needs of the Persons of Concerns reaffirm Oneness of the People of Nigeria irrespective of Geographical location and Political differences.
Pastor Nwabueze stated that Persons of Concern in the State included: victims of communal crises, Fire incidences, Flood disaster, Libyan Returnees and the Physically challenged.
Earlier Special Adviser on Special Duties to the Governor of Enugu State Mr. Uwakwe Azikiwe who represented the Governor at the occasion said that the continued interventions by NCFRMI to Person of Concern in the attested to the fact that the Commission was alive to its mandate as well as positive disposition of the United Nations Convention which gave birth to the Commission.
The items distributed included: Sewing and Grinding Machines, Hair Dryer and Agricultural inputs.
The distribution exercise took place at Federal Ministry of Works
Premises in Abakaliki and at the Enugu State Government House respectively.
