
The Federal Government has commended the Council of Former Permanent Secretaries (CORFEPS) for its remarkable contributions toward strengthening governance through its advisory role and enhancing efficiency in the public sector.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, CON made the commendation when the delegation from CORFEPS led by its National Chairman, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Dr. Mahmud Yayale Ahmed, CFR paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja.
SGF acknowledged the submissions of advisory documents submitted by the Council to President Bola Ahmed, advising the Government on key sectors of the economy. He assured CORFEPS that as a listening leader, Mr. President will take into cognisance their suggestions and recommendations.
Having commended them for their meritorious service in the Federal Civil Service, he assured them of the commitment of the present administration to tap into their wealth of experience in nation-building.
Speaking earlier, the National Chairman of CORFEPS, Dr. Mahmud Yayale Ahmed expressed its readiness to support the present administration through its advisory role and to the public service for effective service delivery.
In line with the mandate given to them, Dr. Yayale said the Council has submitted three advisory documents to President Tinubu , viz: Strengthening the Renewed Hope Agenda, submitted on 13th March,2024; Enhancing Government Food Security Agenda, submitted on 26th August, 2024 and the Deportation of Foreigners from the USA: Implications to Nigeria submitted on 19th December, 2024. He added that the Council has also forwarded an advisory document on Tax Reform Agenda to the National Assembly for its consideration.
