The Federal Government has opened the application portal for the Student Venture Capital Grant (S-VCG), a national initiative designed to support student-led innovations with strong commercial potential. The grant, a major component of the Renewed Hope Agenda, aims to nurture a new generation of innovation-driven entrepreneurs within Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.
Announcing the initiative, the Honourable Minister of Education, Chief Dr. Tunji Alausa, FAMedS, CON, noted that the President has challenged the Ministry to identify the next groundbreaking innovation from Nigerian campuses. He described the grant as an equity-free investment intended to support future high-impact ventures rooted in STEMM fields.
The S-VCG offers up to ₦50 million to student founders developing scalable solutions to real-world problems. Beneficiaries will also gain access to incubation programmes, expert mentorship, and the technical resources required to build market-ready enterprises.
To strengthen the programme, the Ministry has partnered with Google to embed Gemini AI-powered evaluation systems into the application portal, ensuring fair and efficient assessment. Every applicant who completes a submission will receive a one-year Google Gemini Pro licence and premium learning tools to support their entrepreneurial development.
The application portal is now open to eligible students in accredited tertiary.
