FG - NEEM Partnership To Reduce Out Of School Children And Promote Value System

The Federal Government of Nigeria has expressed interest in partnering with NEEM Foundation to reduce out-of-school children and promote value systems in education.

The Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Said Ahmed, disclosed the Ministry’s readiness to collaborate with NEEM to adopt a learning methodology that addresses early pregnancies and economic challenges.

She made this known on 4th July, 2025, during a courtesy visit by NEEM Foundation in Abuja.

Impressed by NEEM’s achievements, the Minister noted that the Ministry works with many NGOs and partners to support disadvantaged groups. She cited statistics showing 15 million out-of-school children in Nigeria, 60% of whom are girls, expressing concern about the future of children with uneducated mothers.

She emphasized the need to incorporate value systems into teacher training, adding that teachers with strong values can pass them on to students. She assured NEEM of the Ministry’s commitment to collaborating on key initiatives.

Dr. Fatima Akilu, Executive Director of NEEM Foundation, thanked the Minister, explaining that the Foundation focuses on second-chance education, trauma recovery, and value-based curricula. She highlighted success stories of girls who excelled in WAEC, JAMB, and NECO after participating in their programs.

Ms. Minoe Duanwan, Senior Programme Officer, noted NEEM’s vocational training for women and teacher training in Maiduguri to embed value systems in schools.
