FIC Report (Nasarawa State) – Federal Government has officially taken over the Marhai National park from Nasarawa state Government with the assurance of ensuring full utilization of the park for enhance tourist potential through creation of job opportunities, social well being and economic prosperity of the nation.
Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abas Lawal stated this during the official handing and taking over of the park from Nasarawa state Government held in Lafia recently.
He expressed his ministry’s willingness to partner Nasarawa state Government in ensuring the safety and development of the park as well the Farin Ruwa Water falls located in the same area for tourist purposes.
Balarabe while describing the event as a great milestone to the federal government, reiterated Commitment of the federal government towards preserving the natural beauty and Bio diversity of national Parks across the Country.
It would be recalled that in April 2021, the federal government under the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration had upgraded ten forest reserves to National parks including Marhai forest reserve in Wamba local government area of Nasarawa State.
The governor while handing over the Marhai National Park to the Minister of Environment for full takeover by the federal government, commended the host communities of Marhai forest for their support and cooperation also acknowledged efforts of the federal government for working tirelessly towards the realization of the taking over of the Marhai forest to the National park.
Governor noted that Nasarawa State is blessed and endowed with rich natural resources, site Attraction, tourism and culture, urged federal government to properly use the Marhai National Park for investment and other purposes.
Sule who unbehalf of government and good people to Nasarawa state, also appealed to federal government to fully Maximize the use of Marhai National park to attract tourism and generate revenue to the state and the Country as a whole.
The Conservator general National Park service Mohamed Goni thanked the Nasarawa State government for working hard towards ensuring Seamless handing over of the Marhai to National Park service.
