The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to transform the economy by harnessing the nation’s endowed resources with a view to actualizing national aspirations and objectives for wealth creation, employment opportunities for the teeming youths, with robust investments in the solid minerals and steel sectors.
The Honourable Ministers for Solid Minerals Development, Mr Dele Alake and that of Steel Development; Alhaji Shuaibu Audu made this known during a reception ceremony organized by the management of the Ministry to mark their assumption of duties in the Ministry.
In his address to the management staff, the Hon. Minister for Solid Minerals Development, Mr Alake stated that his vision will expand investment opportunities in the Solid Minerals sector towards achieving the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the citizenry.
Speaking further, he explained that in view of the current global shift from hydro-carbon, the solid minerals sector of the economy will play a critical role to drive the socio-economic transformation of Nigeria, in line with the policy thrust agenda of the present administration.
To this end, Mr. Alake said ”we will drive the agenda collectively, using legitimate means to get results”. While soliciting maximum cooperation of the management staff of the Ministry, the Hon. Minister admonished them to be proactive and diligent in their duties in the collective interest of Nigerians.
Buttressing his position further, Mr Alake promised Nigerians that in due time he will unveil the roadmap of the Ministry that will give direction and focus towards implementing policies and programmes in the minerals sector, in order to achieve the Ministry’s mandate of repositioning the sector for robust economic growth.
In his address, the Hon. Minister for Steel Development, Alhaji Shuaibu Audu, stated that all hands must be on deck to implement and actualize the policy thrust of the present administration in the steel sector of the economy.
Alhaji Audu asserted that Steel has the capacity to transform the socio-economic fortunes of Nigeria, adding, it is the bedrock of any industrialized nation.
Continuing, the Hon. Minister stated that the new Ministry will ensure that its mandate for steel development is achieved, stressing, the growth of Ajaokuta Steel and other steel plants will be pursued vigorously for the nation’s industrialization.
Speaking earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Mary Ogbe, affirmed that the newly created Ministries will ensure proper harnessing of the nation’s mineral resources to facilitate enhanced economic transformation in line with the agenda of the present administration.
