FIC Report (Nasarawa State) – The Federal Govermment through the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and sanitation has revealed plan to relocate Mangar community in order to avoid been sub-merch by the Farin Ruwa water dam Project been carried out in the area.
The Honourable minister of water resources and sanitation Engr. Prof. Joseph Utsev represented by the Director Dam Reservoir Engnr Ali Ibrahim Dallah stated this when he let top management of the ministry on a meeting with Nasarara state government and Mangar community leaders at Govermment House Lafia recently.
According to him, the need to consider relocation and resettlement of the community became imperative considering the fact that the entire community would be flooded when ever the construction work at the multi-purpose Dam is been completed as the construction work at the project site has since commenced.
He said that the Dam Project when completed would serve for the purpose of generating 20 megawatt of power supply as well as use for irrigation farming, just as he further explained that that the obligation for the relocation and settlement falls under the domain of the state government.
Governor Abdullahi Sule applauded the federal government for taking full ownership of the construction of the multi- purpose Dan in Farin Ruwa, Wamba Local Govermment Area.
He maintained that the entire Farin Ruwa axis is blessed with arable land for agriculture and with the Dam Project, the Agriculture and boost other economic activities in the area.
He appealed to the Federal Govermment to ensure that the project is been completed, not a situation where by people would be relocated from their ancestors homes and later abandoned the project as well as ensure the provisions of befitting housing accommodations with facilities to enable the relocated community have a pride place to stay.
Speaking separately on behalf of the Mangar Community, a Traditional Ruler of Mama Chiefdom HRH, Zubairu Adams, Hon Emmanuel Ezekiel Minding who is a member representing Wamba Constituency at the Nasarawa state House of Assembly and Chairman, House Committee on Lands and Survey and a proud son not only of Mangar Community, but Farin Ruwa and the entire Wamba LGA, as well the Ward Head of Mangar Mr Kunama, applauded both federal and state government for the construction of the Dam project in their domain which believe would bring great Development that would enhance the livelihood the entire Community through job and wealth creation in the entire area.
They both pleaded with government to ensure full compensation to the relocated and resettled community, stressing that though they will loose everything in their ancestral home including there homes, farmland, economic trees and their ancestral graves, they promised government of their total maximum support and cooperation in executing the project considering the immence benefits of the project thereafter which is not for Mangar Community, but Farin Ruwa, Wamba and Nasarawa State respectfully.
