FIC Report (Nasarawa State) – Federal government in collaboration with the world Bank is to revitalize 147 primary Healthy Care Center’s in Nasarawa State.
According to the Executive secretary of NSPHCDA, Dr. Usman Iskilu-Saleh, FG had planned to revitalize at least one PHC in each of the 147 electoral wards in the state, but disclosed that 58 are currently being attended to in some of the wards commence with the revitalization of 58 healthcare centers in some of the wards, stating further that the project is expected to be completed in June this year.
Dr Iskilu-Saleh who spoke when he hosted members of the correspondent of the NUJ in his office in Lafia, said the federal government remain committed to improving on the health care facilities especially in Nasarawa state to meet the health need of the people.
“The FG has shown commitment to revitalizing these healthcare facilities across the 147 electoral wards by the end of this year. This has become desirable towards ensuring an improved healthcare for residents of the state.
“The FG in partnership with the World Bank have commenced the revitalisation of 58 Primary Healthcare facilities in Nasarawa State University out of the planned 147 facilities in each electoral wards in the state”, Dr Iskilu-Saleh declared.
“So far, we have commenced revitalization of 58 facilities in Nasarawa State It is expected to be completed by June this year. When I say revitalization, I simply mean that the facilities will work for 24 hours every. day. The facilities will not be closed for any reason.
“By June this year we will have these 58 revitalized healthcare facilities, while we work towards revitalizing the others across the 13 Local Government Areas of the state before the end of 2025.”
While reiterating the commitment of the Nasarawa State government to providing quality healthcare services to the people of the state, the Executive Secretary thanked members of the Correspondents’ Chapel for the visit and assured of his readiness to operate an open door policy and provide all inclusive governance in Nasarawa state.
He also charged the members of the chapel to organize medical outreach programs that would have direct health impacts on the people of the state, while assuring them of his support to succeed.
Earlier, Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel of NUJ in Nasarawa State, Isaac Ukpoju, said the visit was to congratulate the Agency’s executive secretary over his appointment and to wish him well in his endeavors.
“We are here basically to congratulate you on your appointment as the Executive Secretary of this Agency. Your appointment did not come to us as a surprise due to your track records,” he said.
Ukpoju further assured the Executive Secretary of the association’s readiness to collaborate with the agency via effective publicity of its activities to all residents of the state and Nigerians in general.
