FIC Report (Niger State) – Nigeria’s first lady and National Chairman, Renewed Hope Initiative, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu has donated One Billion Naira to Niger State under the Renewed hope support for victims of flood , banditry, boat mishap, and fire disasters in the State.
Sen. Oluremi made the donation at the Government House Minna, in addition to 2,000 bags of 50kg Rice, 16,000 wrappers for women, and 100 pairs of shoes.
The wife of the President during a symbolic presentation at the Government House Minna said the purpose of the visit was to condole with the governor and people of the State over the devastating floods, banditry, boat mishap and fire disasters
She expressed her empathy to the affected persons, adding that she shares in the pains and grief of the families of affected victims and expressed optimism that the challenges can be overcome.
The First Lady acknowledged the President’s swift response and added that support provided by the renewed hope initiative is to compliment the government’s efforts to alleviate sufferings of victims
Farmer governor Umaru Bago thanked the First Lady for her kindness and generosity to the people and Niger State government as she had earlier supported other victims of disasters
Niger State Governor, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago appreciated the first lady for her immeasurable love and kindness saying, her efforts through the renewed hope initiative will go a long way in changing the lives of victims of disaster.
He said, the empathy and love she has always shown is a clear testament of the kind of exemplary leadership qualities that she possesses and encouraged her to continue to lead the nation to the right path.
Governor Umaru Bago admitted that Niger State is home to many tributaries of water, which places the State at the risk of flood, saying the State government has been doing a lot to mitigate against it.
Secretary to the Niger State Government Alh. Abubakar Usman in his remarks described the gesture of the Wife of the President as commendable and that her visit has brought humanitarian relief to people who have suffered greatly and acknowledged that the support given has given them a sense of belonging and a show of national solidarity.
Sen. Remi Tinubu was accompanied to the event by the Wife of the Chief of Staff to the President, and wives of the Governors of Niger, Nasarawa, Ekiti, Katsina, Taraba, Bayelsa, Ogun, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna and Kebbi.
The event was well attended by many eminent personalities including Niger State Deputy Governor Comrade Yakubu Garba, Law maker representing Niger East, Sen. Muhammad Sani Musa and Minister of State agric. Abdullahi Sabi.
Others are the Etsu Nupe and Chairman Niger State Council of traditional rulers, Yahaya Abubakar as well as Emirs of Minna, Borgu, Kagara, members of the State House of Assembly, members of the State executive Council and Special Advisers among others.
