The First Lady, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has visited the family of Mrs. Precious Ifeanyi, mother of the Abuja-born Sextuplets, taken care of their hospital bills and presented them with various gift items including financial support as a step towards addressing their medical and immediate needs.
During the presentation which held at the National Hospital, Abuja, Senator Oluremi expressed gratitude to God for the safe delivery of the children (4 girls and 2 boys) through in-vitro fertilization (IVF), after 13 years of childlessness.
Represented by the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Barrister (Mrs) Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, the First Lady reiterated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Administration’s avowed determination towards the improvement of the health care delivery system in the country, especially with a view to tackling infant and maternal mortality.
While congratulating the couple on the birth of the Sextuplets, Senator Oluremi commended the Doctors, Nurses and Management Team of the National Hospital for their expertise that led to the safe delivery of the children. She called on expectant couples not to loose hope but to have trust in God who is the greatest provider, assuring that he will also visit them in His own time.
The First Lady who expressed optimism that the arrival of the babies at this time signifies blessings not only to the family but to the present administration and nation at large, seized the opportunity to call on well meaning Nigerians and philanthropists in particular, to come out enmasse and extend their hand of love, magnanimity and support to the babies.
Also speaking, the Chairman, House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Kafilat Ogbara, congratulated the couple on the arrival of their babies and prayed for God’s protection over them.
She commended the First Lady, the Honourable Minister as well as the Management staff of the Ministry for their efforts, adding that the National Assembly on its part, will continue to support the efforts of the present administration through the provision of appropriations that will have direct impact on the health and other needs of Nigerians
