
The Honourable Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Barrister Hannatu Musa Musawa, has officially inaugurated the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 2025 edition of the All-Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), scheduled to be held in Lagos from 25th to 30th November, 2025.
This year’s edition of AFRIMA, themed “Unstoppable Africa,” brings together LOC members drawn from key stakeholders including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, Nigerian Film Corporation, National Film and Video Censors Board, Federal Ministry of Interior, National Council for Arts and Culture, as well as representatives from AFRIMA and the African Union Commission (AUC).
In his opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Mukhtar Yawale Muhammad, reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He emphasized the importance of synergy among the ministry, AFRIMA, and all relevant stakeholders in ensuring the successful hosting of the continental event.
Also speaking at the inauguration, Local Organising Committee Leader, who is also the Director of Entertainment and Creative Services department of the ministry, Mrs. Akudo-Nwosu Ugochi, appreciated the LOC members for their presence and urged them to demonstrate dedication and professionalism in carrying out their responsibilities.
In her inaugural address, the Honourable Minister, Barr. Hannatu Musa Musawa, described the inauguration as the beginning of a significant and transformative journey. She called on the committee members to deliver a seamless and world-class event, noting that AFRIMA’s collaboration with the Ministry and the AUC seeks not only sponsorship and partnership but also a shared vision for the advancement of African music and culture.
“This partnership continues to thrive and evolve. Beyond the 2025 awards, this collaboration will further enrich Africa’s music industry and contribute meaningfully to the broader cultural landscape and creative economy,” the Minister stated.
President of AFRIMA, Mr. Mike Dada, expressed gratitude for the LOC’s inauguration, describing the 2025 edition as a major milestone. He noted that the event will host top and emerging African music talents, creative industry stakeholders, international media, diplomats, and fans from across the globe.
Established in 2014 by the International Committee of AFRIMA in partnership with the African Union, the annual awards celebrate musical excellence across Africa and serve as a platform for promoting the continent’s rich cultural heritage.
