The Federal Ministry of Education (FME) has restated its unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and quality service delivery, urging all stakeholders to strictly comply with procurement rules even as it approved new projects to further strengthen Nigeria’s education sector.
Speaking during the 2nd Ministerial Tenders Board (MTB) meeting for the 2025 financial year, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Abel Olamuyiwa Enitan, reminded directors and other education actors that ignorance is no excuse in contract execution. He stressed the need for diligence, insisting that allocations must be judiciously utilized and projects executed to the highest standard.
Mr. Enitan noted that the 2024 budget aligns with the procurement process. He emphasized that service delivery and quality assurance remain crucial, urging management staff to ensure memos are well-prepared and detailed. He also disclosed that measures are in place that only certified companies handle government projects.
At the meeting, the MTB considered and approved several memoranda from the Ministry and agencies under its purview, covering projects funded under the 2024 capital appropriations and TETFund. These include construction works, procurement of educational equipment, acquisition of buses, and other initiatives designed to improve the learning environment.
The Permanent Secretary expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the meeting, commending members of the Board for their diligence and commitment to transparency. He assured that the Ministry would ensure timely implementation of all approved projects and contracts to enhance service delivery and advance the nation’s education sector.
