The Honourable Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Dr.Kingsley Udeh, SAN accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Philip Ndiomu paid an official familiarization visit to the Chairman, Senate Committee on Science and Technology, Distinguished Senator Aminu Iya Abbas.
In his address, the Minister expressed deep appreciation for the visionary leadership, guidance, and unwavering support of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which continue to provide strategic direction for the effective discharge of the Ministry’s mandate. He also acknowledged the sustained cooperation and constructive engagement of key stakeholders, particularly the Senate Committee on Science and Technology, whose consistent support underscored the significance of the visit.
Dr. Udeh assured the Committee of his firm commitment to strengthening a responsive and result-driven Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) sector capable of accelerating national development. He further emphasized the critical need to deepen synergy between the Ministry and the National Assembly as a strategic imperative for economic diversification and for positioning Nigeria on a sustainable growth trajectory and among globally competitive nations.
During the engagement, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Science and Technology, Distinguished Senator Aminu Iya Abbas expressed his appreciation and assured the Minister of the Committee’s full legislative backing, including speedy consideration of bills related to the Ministry and its agencies.
He expressed optimism for delivery stating that he is confident in the Minister to deliver on the mandate of the Ministry effectively in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The visit provided an opportunity for strategic and fruitful discussions aimed at strengthening collaboration between the Ministry and the National Assembly in building a stronger alliance to accelerate and strengthen Nigeria’s Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) agenda with both parties pledging commitment to national interest, agreed to work together in the best interest of Nigeria.
