The Minister gave this assurance recently while receiving the Overseeing Officer of the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Development Institute (AMTDI), Jalingo, Mr. Barkindo Abdulrahman, and his management team on a working visit to the Ministry.
The engagement focused on advancing manufacturing innovation, stimulating industrial growth and providing the necessary policy and institutional support to scale the adoption of locally developed manufacturing technologies, particularly among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which remain the backbone of Nigeria’s productive economy.
Dr. Udeh emphasized that revitalising the manufacturing sector through indigenous technology development and deployment is central to the Ministry’s mandate and aligns with the Federal Government’s broader agenda of job creation, value addition and national competitiveness.
He reaffirmed FMIST’s resolve to work closely with AMTDI and other relevant agencies to eliminate structural bottlenecks, strengthen technology transfer mechanisms and ensure that research outputs are translated into commercially viable solutions that directly support local industries.
In his remarks, Mr. Abdulrahman, highlighted AMTDI’s ongoing initiatives in advanced manufacturing technologies and expressed the Institute’s readiness to deepen collaboration with the Ministry to drive capacity building, support SMEs and enhance Nigeria’s industrial productivity.
The meeting further underscored FMIST’s strategic focus on strengthening synergy across its agencies, promoting homegrown innovation and accelerating the conversion of research and technological development into measurable economic outcomes for the nation.
The Ministry reiterated that sustained engagement with institutions such as AMTDI remains critical to building a resilient, innovation-led manufacturing sector capable of driving inclusive growth and positioning Nigeria as a competitive industrial hub in Africa.
