FIC Report (Anambra State) – The Zonal Commanding Officer, RS5 Headquarters, Benin, Assistant Corps Marshal Nkechi Orakwue has called for all hands to be on deck in ensuring safety of all forms of road users, saying that the Corps Marshal has zero tolerance for road crashes.

Speaking during a familiarization visit to Anambra Sector Command Headquarters in Awka, which is under her Zone, ACM Orakwue said ensuring safety on roads is the responsibility of relevant stakeholders, including the government and the motoring public.

She explained that aggressive and consistent public enlightenment on proper use of the highways has been helpful in educating the public on the need for safety on roads.

While commending successive Anambra Governments for various support to the State Sector Command of the FRSC since inception in 1993, the Zonal Commander called for more logistics support in terms of operational vehicles to ensure that FRSC officials are visible on the roads; thereby ensuring prompt response to emergencies.

Earlier, while addressing the FRSC personnel, ACM Orakwue urged them to recommit themselves to their duty, shun “patrol misconducts”, as well as safeguard their lives and jobs by sticking to laid down rules guiding their operations.

In a vote of thanks, Deputy Corps Commander Christy Okonkwo said the presence of the first female Zonal Commander in RS5 Headquarters was a great encouragement for colleagues and the female folk in particular, asking for support and grace of God to enable the Anambra-born ACM to deliver on her mandates.

Anambra State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Adeoye Irelewuyi, was present at the event.
