FIC Report (Gombe State) – A significant development has unfolded in Abuja, as the Gombe State Internal Revenue Service engages in a reconciliation and verification exercise with the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation. The exercise, held at the Grand Pela Hotel, focuses on resolving outstanding PAYE (Pay As You Earn) obligations owed to the Gombe State Government by federal government agencies.
The Gombe State Internal Revenue Service has submitted a claim, representing back-duty PAYE on federal government agencies.
This substantial claim underscores the significance of PAYE in contributing to the state’s revenue.
PAYE is a crucial component of the tax system, where employers deduct taxes from employees’ salaries as contained in section (81) of PITA and remitting them to the relevant tax authority. In Gombe State, the Internal Revenue Service plays a vital role in collecting and managing tax revenues, including PAYE.
The ongoing reconciliation and verification exercise aims to ensure accurate accounting and payment of outstanding PAYE obligations.
This effort demonstrates the commitment of the Gombe State Government in optimizing revenue generation and promoting transparency in tax administration.
As the exercise unfolds, stakeholders are optimistic about the potential outcomes, which may include the recovery of significant revenue for the state. The Gombe State Internal Revenue Service’s submission of PAYE claims highlights the importance of this exercise in promoting fiscal accountability and supporting the state’s development agenda.
