L-R, FRME Nasarawa State, Engr. Aliyu Mohammed, briefing the Hon. Minister of State for Works, Muhammad Bello Goronyo, Esq., (m), and the Managing Director/CEO, FERMA, Dr. Emeka Agbasi, FNSE (r) during the Hon. Minister’s inspection of FERMA road projects in Nasarawa State today Tuesday 18th February, 2025

The Honourable Minister of State for Works, overseeing the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Bello Mohammad Goronyo, Esq. has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his commitment to road infrastructural development across the nation under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The Minister disclosed this today Tuesday 18th February, 2025 while inspecting the Keffi – Gitata – Kaduna State Boarder Road and the Keffi – Gitata – Shendam (Plateau State Boarder road) in Nasarawa State, in the company of the Managing Director/CEO, FERMA, Dr. Emeka Agbasi, FNSE.

The projects were carried out by both Contract and Direct Labour maintenance in the budget year of 2022 – 2024 in Nasarawa State, which covers 193.62km of repairs and recovery of roads. This clearly shows the reason why citizens continue to appeal to the Federal government for continuous intervention in road infrastructure all year round.

While briefing the Hon. Minister earlier, the Nasarawa State Federal Roads Maintenance Engineer, Engr. Aliyu Mohammed, disclosed that the Nasarawa State Field Office prioritized interventions along major federal roads across the State, including preventive maintenance as currently championed by the MD/CEO, recovery and reinstatement of distressed collapsed sections of the carriageway, shoulders, embankment, desilting and construction of adequate drainages/hydraulic structures to mitigate flooding and to preserve the road.

In his remarks, the Managing Director/CEO, Dr. Emeka Agbasi, FNSE, applauded Mr. President and the Minister of State, Works, supervising FERMA, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, Esq., for the support and cooperation given to FERMA, adding that the Agency is trying its best to alleviate the challenges of high cost of construction materials, road abuses, training and re-training needs, operational vehicles to cover the networks of federal roads, as well as low budgetary provisions to enable Agency deliver more dividends of democracy to Nigerians through the provision of quality road infrastructure.
