FIC Report (Ondo State) – Governor of Ondo State, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on Tuesday reiterated his administration’s commitment to all state-owned institutions, assuring the people of Akungba Akoko that infrastructure, education and security projects in their community would receive priority attention.
Speaking at the governor’s office in Akure during a courtesy visit by the Alale of Akungba, Oba Isiaka Oseni Adu, and other community leaders, Governor Aiyedatiwa said his government is determined to ensure that state institutions, including universities, polytechnics and other tertiary bodies, receive adequate funding to maintain quality education and operational efficiency.
He acknowledged that the institutions had submitted requests for increased running grants and additional resources, adding that while government funds were limited, urgent and critical needs remain the administration’s priority.
“Everybody is asking for more,” he said, noting that universities, ministries, workers, and communities all had legitimate demands that require careful balancing.
The Governor assured that steps are being taken to block leakages and improve revenue generation to release more funds for development, particularly in education, stressing Ondo State’s long-standing reputation for educational excellence.
Turning to Akungba, Governor Aiyedatiwa highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects, including the multi-billion-naira Akungba–Ikare road dualisation, describing it as vital for economic growth, road safety and the wellbeing of the university community.
He also noted the relocation and rehabilitation of Atiba Market, promising that the facility would be transformed into a central market serving the wider community.
On security, the Governor stated that measures had been implemented to ensure Akungba remains safe and pledged continued attention to sustaining peace and order in the area.
Earlier, the Alale of Akungba, Oba Isiaka Oseni Adu, lauded the governor for his administration’s impactful interventions in the community, including the Akungba–Ikare road, Okusa Basic Health Centre, and Atiba Market.
The monarch also called for greater inclusion of qualified sons and daughters of Akungba in state civil service positions and urged enhanced funding and oversight for Adekunle Ajasin University to complement the introduction of new professional courses.
Oba Oseni Adu expressed appreciation to the governor for providing modern vehicles to traditional rulers across the state, describing the gesture as a clear demonstration of government’s support for local leadership.
