Gov. Yusuf Signs N719 Billion Appropriation Bill for 2025, Pledges Development and Poverty Alleviation

FIC Report (Kano State) – Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has signed the 2025 appropriation bill into law, approving a total budget of N719,755,417,663. The fiscal plan, which aims to accelerate infrastructural growth, social empowerment, and poverty alleviation, allocates N262.67 billion (36%) to recurrent expenditure and N457.80 billion (64%) to capital expenditure.

According to Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, Director General of Media and Publicity at Government House, Kano, Governor Yusuf reiterated his administration’s commitment to implementing the budget fully. Speaking at the signing ceremony, he described the financial blueprint, tagged the “Budget of Hope, Human Capital, and Economic Development,” as a roadmap to stimulate economic growth, enhance social welfare, and empower the people of Kano.

Governor Yusuf emphasized the administration’s priorities, including healthcare, education, agriculture, and infrastructure development. “Let me assure the good people of Kano of our commitment to improving lives through investment generation, infrastructural development, and poverty alleviation programs,” the governor stated.

Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jibrin Ismail Falgore, noted that the budget size was increased by over N170 billion after a public hearing to address critical developmental needs. The governor originally proposed a budget of N549.16 billion on November 8, 2024.

The signing ceremony, held at Government House, Kano, was attended by Deputy Governor Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam, principal officers of the State House of Assembly, and members of the State Executive Council.
