The Governor , Dr Okezie lkpeazu says time has come for leaders and citizens to have a rethink on where they have derailed and help rebuild their faulty homes and Nation.
Dr lkpeazu who stated this during the Synod Sunday Thanksgiving Service for the 1st Session of the 10th Synod of the Anglican Communion held at St Mary’s Church, Ohokobe/Umuohu Ndume in Ndume lbeku Archdeaconry, Umuahia attributed most of the uncertainty, ills and insecurity hovering around the nation to some Parents not being alive to their responsibilities of bringing up their children in the proper way.
The Governor represented by his Deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu described the Synod Theme”Let Us Rebuild And End This Reproach”as very apt and beyond mere rebuilding of the physical Church to that of rebuilding ourselves into thinking about positive things in view of the ills prevalent in Society so that the State and country will experience peace and be a better place for all.
He pointed out that the Synod calls for sober reflection and Thanksgiving to God for seeing everyone through all challenges especially the global pandemic and appealed for concerted prayers to God from the Church for security as well as to help sustain and heal the land.
In their remarks, the SSG , Mr Chris Ezem represented by the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Political Affairs, Chief Issac Nwachukwu and the Head of Service, Sir Onyi Wamah represented by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Trade and Investment, Chief Michael Egwu congratulated the Bishop of Umuahia Diocese, The Rt. Rev. Dr Geoffrey Ibeabuchi and the Diocese and called for support and sustained prayers for the State Govt.
Earlier in his Sermon titled “Let Us Rebuild And End This Reproach”, the Anglican Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, The Rt Rev Ndubuisi Obi said any support to the work of God attracts more blessings and enjoined Christians to change their mindsets and be a source of motivation to one another in building the kingdom of God with joy.
The Service featured the cutting of the Synod cake, and Thanksgiving attracted the presence of top Govt Officials, the Clergy and other distinguished Personalities.
