Abia State Government has reaffirmed the determination to sanitize the Health Institutions across the State for optimal output and a healthy citizenry.
The State Deputy Governor, Engineer Ikechukwu Emetu stated this when the Executive Members of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, South East Zone paid him a courtesy visit at Govt House, Umuahia decried the high rate of corruption evident in the various Health Institutions in the State, maintaining that Government cannot afford to churn out half baked medical personnel that will pose as dangers to the general well being of the society.
Engineer Emetu however, stressed that Govt will not shy away from their responsibilities of ensuring that medical facilities across the State are put in perfect shape for excellent academic pursuits and quality health care delivery that are line with acceptable standard.
The Deputy Governor encouraged the Association to remain resolute in their quest to become renowned medical practitioners in future, assuring that Govt will work out modalities of addressing some of the challenges confronting them and accepted their request to be their Patron.
In his remarks earlier, the President, National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, South East Zone, Comrade Bartholomew Chimezie who said their objective is to harmonize activities of their Members by promoting unity amongst them congratulated the Governor, Dr Alex Otti and his Deputy, Chief Ikechukwu Emetu on their well deserved electoral victory and appealed to Govt to assist them address the problems of transportation, accommodation and other basic amenities confronting them.
