FIC Report (Nasarawa State) – Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state has approved the sum of N1bn in collaboration with World Bank, to procure equipment for the state Primary Health Care facilities.
The State Executive Secretary Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr. Iskilu Usman Saleh, disclosed this in a media chat in Lafia.
He explained that the equipment’s include; ambu bag with face mask, artery forceps (medium) bowls (stainless steel) with stand, centrifuge manual vacuum, cup with cover for ORS diagnostic set among others.
Dr. Saleh stressed that the state government, and World bank have revitalized 58 facilities, and by the end of November, this year all the 58 will be completed.
“And I want to clearly state it to you that the facilities were completed. Very few numbers that remain touching completion. By God’s grace by the end of November, this year all the 58 will be completed.
He stressed that the governor has approved a procurement process of 22 additional facilities awaiting revitalization.
While commending governor Sule for his visionary leadership and strategic attention on the health sector, Iskilu noted that apart from the money approved for the furnishing of PHC’.
He said that the governor also ordered recruitment of another 681 trained staff in addition to the earlier 1,586 earlier recruited totalling 2,267 health workers within the space of three years.
“The staff category recruited to serve at PHC facilities across the state includes, doctors, community health extension worker, CHEW, Pharmacy technician, Health Information Management Technician,(HIMT) Nurses, and Midwife.
Iskilu hailed governor Sule for approving and releasing about N39million for the take off of the Measles Rubella vaccination in the state.
The fund was to ensure proper implementation of the vaccination schedule for flag off next week Tuesday 6th October.
He therefore, assured residents of the state to visit PHCs facilities for proper health care, adding that with continuous upgrade the facilities to standard across the state, the agency mission of accessibility, accountability and affordability would be achieved in 2027.
